Qualitat adds a new service to its portfolio: Drone Training. These are training and operations simulators for commercial, forestry, security and defence drone pilots, built on the same virtual-reality and AI-assessment technology the company uses in VR FIREX, METARISK and XTraining.
Why drones
Drones are already part of daily operations in mining, energy, forestry and security. A flight error can cost high-value equipment, interrupt an operation or put people on the ground at risk. Training pilots only with real flight hours is slow, expensive and leaves out the most dangerous situations, which are exactly the ones that need practice.
What the service includes
- Flight simulators with a Meta Quest 3 headset and a real remote controller, with multirotor, fixed-wing and VTOL physics.
- Mission scenarios: wildfire fighting, perimeter patrol, surveillance, asset inspection, agricultural spraying and search and rescue.
- Live failures: GPS loss, link loss, motor or battery failure, plus smoke, wind, rain and night operations.
- Ground control station to train the whole crew: pilot, sensor operator and mission commander.
- Per-pilot report with AI-assisted assessment.
From simulator to operations
The program runs in five stages: assessment, simulator, mission, evaluation and support during the first real operations. It prepares pilots for the knowledge and practical tests required by the local aviation authority. For organisations that prefer not to train their own pilots, Qualitat also offers drone operations as a service.
